CO. KILKENNY KITCHEN

A tired dark Kitchen in need of a special make over.

Catherine called me as she really wanted a new Kitchen but didn’t know where to start.  She had her existing kitchen for many years and it just wasn’t functioning for her anymore.  I met with her at her home and went through all the aspects of her Kitchen that she didn’t like and what she felt she would like in her dream Kitchen.

After our chat, I started some designs for the Kitchen and I felt the best thing would be to move the Kitchen to the other side of the room and drop the existing windows to allow more light into the space.  I contacted a Kitchen Manufacturer and set about designing the new Kitchen.  Although Catherine took a bit of convincing, she soon saw the benefits of moving the entire Kitchen and dropping the windows. The Range cooker had to stay as it ran the heating system, so the new Kitchen was designed around this, but as we decided on a Shaker style door this was not a problem.  We used Farrow & Ball All White on the main body of the Kitchen and built the units right to the ceiling to avoid any wasted space.

I designed a curved Island as I felt the room was too long to take more straight angles and we used Farrow & Ball Pigeon on the Island to create a contrast.

Carrara by CRL was used for the work top and splash back. This clean white stone with soft grey veining is beautiful against the green Island.

The original terracotta floor tile was replaced with a Imola tile that reflects the light back into the room.  As the Kitchen is linked to the Living room and this has a red bricked fire place, I felt it would work well if I incorporated some red brick in the design so I placed a panel running down the centre of the wall between the windows and the effect is quite striking.

The overall result is brighter, more functional, beautiful Kitchen that Catherine can enjoy for many years to come.

TESTIMONIAL

“I had the pleasure of working with Aspect Interior Design when we redesigned our kitchen and hall in 2019. From the start Brenda’s professionalism and attention to detail was so reassuring and made the process so much easier. Brenda offered on-going support from our first contact through being always accessible, pointing us in the right direction at every stage and opening our minds to new ideas and new concepts. The team that Brenda sourced for us from the kitchen maker to the painters and plumber were brilliant and so easy to work with. The final result was beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend Aspect Interior Design.”
