It is fast approaching that time of the year again when we all become giddy with excitement at the prospect of meeting up with family and friends, festive nights out, gifts, drinking to excess and the endless food but it is also the time to think about our Christmas Decorations after all is it even Christmas if there are no fairy lights?

When it comes to Christmas decorating we all have our individual styles and tastes – some of us have family heirlooms, or favourite decorations that we love to use, and no matter what this seasons festive décor trends maybe, these items will always have a space in our homes. Christmas decorating can be as individual as you are but for those of you that would like some help decorating this festive season, here are our top tips –

Tip One –

Pick a colour scheme and stick to it! – okay so we are starting with the basics here –Whether you chose traditional red, gold and green or a more contemporary mix of blue, pink and silver, picking and sticking to a colour scheme can be the single best thing you can do when it comes to festive decorating.

Tip Two –

Add Lights – Whether you are a coloured lights kinda guy or a warm white light kinda gal, using lights in your interior and exterior decorating can really add to that Christmas magic. Who doesn’t love all those twinkling lights?

Tip Three –

A Christmas Tree- There isn’t much that can beat the smell of real Christmas tree, but when it comes to decorating, an artificial tree gets our vote. The symmetry of the branches allow you to decorate with elegance and style.

Tip Four –

Add a garland – Nothing dresses your mantel piece like a garland, but don’t stop there. You can add these to the stairs, around doors or along tables. Add holly berries, acorns, faux apples, ivy and even flowers to them to really make them your own.

Tip Five –

Create a Warm Festive Welcome – Wreaths hung on our doors are becoming more popular for all seasons but nothing looks as good at the Christmas Wreath -Nothing says Christmas like a beautiful wreath hanging from the front door to welcome you home during the festive season. Whether you prefer to buy one or would like to attempt to make your own, there are plenty of style to chose from.

Tip Six –

Gift Wrap – this is the one time of the year when the gifts can also be part of your decoration display – Make sure you wrap your gifts with your colour scheme or style in mind. Use ribbon, flowers, stars or whatever puts a smile on your face, and place them in different piles under your tree creating a display that will definitely have everyone itching to find out which one is theirs.

Tip Seven –

Be individual – We all have our own style and this should not be forgotten at this time of year. It is easy to look at Instagram images or glossy magazine pictures and to try and copy that look, but if we forget to add a piece of us to the festive interior then we are missing the opportunity to showcase our style. I love reindeer – In fact, I have 268 of them in my Christmas Collection – That’s individual, right?
