When the owners of The 360 Cookhouse, Mike and Vincent Pettit approached me and asked me to help them with the new restaurant that they planned on opening, I was delighted to be able to offer them my services. Straight away I was swept up in their excitement for the project and once the brief was settled on – a bar design that was aimed at women but with a Mediterranean, industrial feel, I got stuck in to creating the designs.
Budgets, space management and time lines where very important on this project – plenty of my time was spent contacting all my trade contacts and suppliers negotiating the best prices on items to make sure everything came in on or under budget.
The interior design of the restaurant was fun and exhilarating as there was great scope for the use of colour throughout. I also had the freedom to use different textures in each area – from wallpaper to tiles, sand mixed into paint to wood and stone. Lighting was also very important and careful consideration was given to creating the right ambiance within each area.
The outdoor area was just as important as the indoor area and I loved the fact we could use an old reclaimed fireplace we had found out there.
The paneling used in the main restaurant and the curved booths where designed to create a more intimate dining experience but also helped with the sound levels as the ceiling as so high in the main restaurant area.
The Castle room was added in December 2019 and it has a less intimate feel than the main restaurant. It takes its inspiration from the old castle that can be seen through the picture window, and the exposed bricked wall. But although it has a different feel, the wonderful thing about the 360 Cookhouse is its ability to have all these separate rooms within one building and they all work whether it’s independently or together. That’s the beauty of good design.
“We engaged Brenda to advise, purchase and fulfil the interior layout of 360 Cookhouse prior to opening in July 2017, having had her referred to us by property owners we know to have the highest standards in interior finishing.
We were delighted with every aspect of her input – she fully understood the brief and delivered a design, and a finish, that fitted perfectly with the premises, the business and the market we were hoping to attract. She delivered the project on time, on budget and sourced materials and items that have come to define 360 Cookhouse. Her attention to detail is second to none and her contacts with suppliers means you are getting the very best materials at the very best price… and they all arrived when she said they would.
We cannot recommend Brenda highly enough and we do not embark on any interior works, in any premises, without first putting it past Brenda. She has truly become a partner in terms of her efficiency, expertise, value and, most importantly, her artistic input. This, coupled with her work ethic and her work manner, means we will be doing business with Brenda for many years to come”
